The DURAARK team have presented their results from joint efforts in WPs 3,4,5 culminating in D3.5 at the 2015 edition of the annual international EG-ICE (European Group for Intelligent Computing in Engineering). The workshop was attended by 40 participants from 11 countries.

Point cloud decompostion and association

Point cloud decompostion and association

A schema extension for the Industry Foundation Classes data model to accommodate point cloud data as a form of geometric representation of buildings models was presented. In order to cope with the large amounts of data usually handled in point cloud based workflows and preservation scenarios a serialization of IFC instances has HDF5 was presented.

Both paper and presentation were well received and discussed extensively with other workshop participants, among which other papers focusing on point clouds were presented.

DURAARK@Linked Data in Architecture and Construction (LDAC) workshop http://duraark.eu/duraarklinked-data-in-architecture-and-construction-ldac-workshop/ http://duraark.eu/duraarklinked-data-in-architecture-and-construction-ldac-workshop/#respond Tue, 01 Sep 2015 10:25:40 +0000 http://duraark.eu/?p=1572 ldac_2015_logo

In the time between July 15-17, 2015 the 3rd annual workshop on Linked Data in Architecture and Construciton (LDAC) was held on the campus of the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e)

The workshop was started by a number of presenations by the more than 33 partcipants from 12 countries.

One of the most important tangible outcomes was reaching consensus for a harmonized ifcOWL profile that serves as the foundation for the adoption as an official buildingSMART standard in October this year. This consensus was reached after extensive and constructive debates among the members of the group.

Additional information can be found in the the workshop report and the website of the workshop.

Joint workshop on Linked Data in Architecture and Construction -‐ LDAC 2014 http://duraark.eu/ldac2014/ http://duraark.eu/ldac2014/#comments Tue, 08 Apr 2014 15:28:53 +0000 http://duraark.eu/?p=1041 LDAC_logo

Together with colleagues from the Aalto University, University of Ghent, and AEC3, members of the DURAARK team co-organize the

Joint  workshop  on  Linked  Data  in  Architecture  and Construction  -‐  LDAC  2014
(2 nd  LDAC  Workshop  &  6 th  eeSemantics  VoCamp)

to be held

May  26-‐27,  2014
Aalto  University  and  Tekla
Espoo,  Finland

From the call for Participation:

“The  topic  of  this  event  is  why  and  how  to  use  the  Web  of  Data  technologies  for  building  information management.  The  interest  to  this  question  arises  from  the  expected  benefits  such  as  the  ability  to  easily  link building  information  models  to  and  from  external  data  sources,  to  open  the  models  to  new  use  cases  and applications,  to  enable  truly  decentralized  publication  of  models,  to  support  loosely  coupled  interoperation through  cross-‐model  linking,  and  to  utilize  reasoning  and  other  services  developed  in  Semantic  Web  research. The  topic  is  studied  from  two  different  perspectives:  The  VoCamp  will  focus  on  use  cases  and  vocabularies  for the  Web  of  Building  Data,  and  the  LDAC  workshop  will  study  the  technical  solutions”

The full call can be downloaded here

You can register to the event without a fee using this form until May 11.

i-KNOW workshop “Speed Dating of Linked Buidling Data Vocabularies” http://duraark.eu/i-know-workshop-speed-dating-of-linked-buidling-data-vocabularies/ http://duraark.eu/i-know-workshop-speed-dating-of-linked-buidling-data-vocabularies/#respond Mon, 10 Mar 2014 08:36:40 +0000 http://duraark.eu/?p=935 iknow_logoTogether with scholars from other European universities and EU-sponsored projects, DURAARK consortium members are organizing a “speed dating” workshop for bringing together different vocabularies from the field of building and construction into a common repository. The workshop is going take place in the context of the i-KNOW conference from 16-19 September 2014. The DURAARK SDA prototype is envisaged as a tool to store the vocabularies itself as well as the links among vocabulary entities that are created during the workshop.

The DURAARK project was presented to the CIB W78 “Applications of IT in AEC (Architecture, Engineering, Construction Managment)” conference in at Tsinghua University in Beijing, October 9-12 2013. http://2013cibw78.civil.tsinghua.edu.cn/ . After the presentation a lively discussion started and the general ideas and approaches of the project received positive feedback from the CIB W78 community. CIB W78 is one of the most renowned conference series in AEC and construction informatics. During this year’s conference edition ca 90 papers from authors of 25 countries where presented. Proceedings will be made public on http://itc.scix.net/cgi-bin/works/BrowseTree?field=series&separator=:&recurse=0&order=AZ&value=w78
