It complements and re nes the deliverable D2.2.2 System Architecture & Speci cation v1.0 from month 6.

D2.4 Software prototype v1 (PDF, 1.48 MB)

This report describes the first version of the integrated software prototype comprising the software prototypes developed in DURAARK so far. It exposes the functionality of the prototypes as a service-oriented platform (the “Workbench”) and provides it to stakeholders via a coherent graphical user interface (the “WorkbenchUI”), yielding an integrated application for performing long-term archival tasks for BIM data from the view of a front-end stakeholder. Additionally, the software acts as a service provider for third party developers to be able to integrate the functionality developed in DURAARK in their own (existing) applications.

D2.5 Software prototype v2 (PDF, 11 MB)

In this report we describe the final version of the integrated software prototype in DURAARK. Focus of work since the last prototype in M18 was the enhancement of workflows within the graphical user interfaces developed in the project to carry out use cases in the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) domain. The developed workflows combine the individual components developed by project partners and allows the integrated software prototype to be used as a “semantic building information modeling (BIM) archival and retrieval system“. Since M18 the software design was improved and now provides the Service Platform which encapsulates the core functionality developed in DURAARK.

D.3.3.1 Metadata schema extension for archival systems (PDF, 5306 kB)

In this report strategies are outlined how relevant metadata for the digital preservation of architectural data and related external vocabularies can be structured and stored.

D.3.3.2 Ontological Framework for a Semantic Digital Archive (PDF, 3766 kB)

In this deliverable, a framework for a Semantic Digital Archive (SDA) for buildings and their components is suggested and described: The organizational framework for the Semantic Digital Archive as well as its methodological and technological enablers are outlined and specified.

D3.3 Semantic Digital Archive Prototype (PDF, 2,15 MB)

In this report, a description of the first prototype for the Semantic Digital Archive (SDA) is provided. The SDA is split up into a number of separate components that address the Digital Longterm Preservation (DPS) of semantically enriched Building Information Models along with the datasets and vocabularies used for the enrichment. A detailed description of the prototypical implementations of software components, which together form the SDA, is provided that includes a guideline for their use, a description of their integration into the DURAARK workbench prototype and a detailed account of the technical background.

D3.4 Semantic Digital Interlinking and Clustering Prototype  (PDF, 1,2 MB)

In this report, a description of the interlinking and clustering mechanisms and prototypes is provided that will be integrated into the DURAARK workbench and the Semantic Digital Archive (SDA) backend.

D3.5 Point cloud schema extension for the IFC model (PDF, 5,5 MB)

In this deliverable, an extension to the IFC schema is proposed that allows the integration of point cloud data into instance models of the Industry Foundation Classes (IFC). The proposed schema extension allows point cloud representations to be stored and presented alongside existing explicit shape representations in the form of parametric or tessellated geometry.

D3.6 Semantic Digital Interlinking and Clustering Prototype v2 (PDF, 6,5 MB)

This deliverable describes the second version of the interlinking and clustering prototype, where significant improvements have been designed and implemented. The previously developed SDO (D3.2) provides the metadata (profiles) corresponding to available datasets to be crawled. It also facilitates the detection of targeted entry points into the LOD graph for specific seed lists. While this functionality is deemed essential for scenarios where a wide range of datasets are meant to be archived/crawled, the narrow DURAARK domain (architecture) limits the potentially relevant datasets to a reasonable amount. To this end, SDO data is provides a sound foundation for pre-configuring the focused crawler and cannot be used dynamically for looking up datasets for each crawl. In this deliverable, we introduce a focused crawler for linked data (LD), which extends the previously developed crawling environment with a more targeted and hence scalable approach.

D.4.4.1 Documenting the Changing State of Built Architecture, Software prototype v1 (PDF, 13697 kB)

This document presents deliverable D4.4.1, the software prototype v1 for (semi-) automated registration of models which follow the Building Information Modeling (BIM) paradigm and point clouds.

D.4.2 Documenting the Changing State of Built Architecture Software prototype v2 (PDF, 22 616 kB)

This document describes the second software prototype for documenting the changing state of built architecture which was developed in the scope of WP4. In addition to describing improvements of the Registration prototype (Task 4.1) over year 1, we tackle the problems of associating parts of low-level point cloud data with high-level entities specified in BIM (Building Information Model) datasets (Task 4.3), and determining differences between concurrent datasets of the same building (Task 4.2). Detected differences are visualized for interactive inspection by the user, e.g. in the ingest phase of the digital long-term preservation lifecycle, or when checking the integrity of datasets after data migration. Furthermore, we give an overview of the integration of our software component into the overall DURAARK system. In addition to the software prototype, we also describe the aquisition of test data at Lule˚a Tekniska Universitet.

D.4.3 Documenting the Changing State of Built Architecture – Software prototype v3 (PDF, 32,5 MB)

This report presents the third version of the software prototype for registration, identifi- cation of inconsistencies, and transfer of structure and semantics between different digital representations of a building. It provides an overview of the improvements and extensions since the last version of the prototypes, implementation details, and a description of the integration into the overall DURAARK system prototype.

This deliverable D5.2 is part of WP5, “Recognition of Architecturally Meaningful Structures and Shapes”. The software prototype is a semantic enrichment tool for detecting hidden structures like in-wall electrical appliances. The information of the found structures is provided in a form so that it can be stored in a long-term archival system.

D.5.3 Recognition of Architecturally Meaningful Structures and Shapes Software prototype v2 (PDF, 11 837 kB)

This report presents the second version of the software prototype for the recognition of architecturally meaningful structures and shapes, as well as an overview of its integration into the overall DURAARK system. Building on the first prototype, we present a highly automatic method for the reconstruction of high-level BIM models from raw indoor point cloud scans. This approach is especially desirable for the legacy building stock for which BIM models from the planning phase are not available. The generated models may be stored alongside the point cloud data in a long-term preservation system for e.g. facility management tasks throughout the life span of a building. Furthermore, we present a point cloud compression method which is suitable for the integration of point cloud parts directly into IFC files.

D.5.4 Shape grammars for almost invisible structures Software prototype v2 (PDF, 17 MB)

This report presents the new version of the tool RISE (Reveal almost Invisible StructurEs), the second software prototype for the detection of almost invisible structures from point cloud data and images. This deliverable D5.4 is part of WP5, “Recognition of Architecturally Meaningful Structures and Shapes”. The software prototype is a semantic enrichment tool for detecting hidden structures like in-wall electrical appliances. The information of the found structures is provided in a form so that it can be stored in a long-term archival system.

In order to keep it highly informative, those parts which have already been described in detail in D8.2 are presented in condensed form in this deliverable. The document covers the dissemination plan for the entire remaining period of the DURAARK project. Since this means a forecast for the next two years, not all plans can be presented in a detailed form, as for example dates and agendas for conferences during 2015 are in many cases not published yet.

D.8.5 Market Study and Exploitation Plan (PDF, 9861 kB)

This deliverable (D8.5 Market Study and Exploitation Plan V1) reports on plans for the continued, sustainable use of the research results achieved in the DURAARK project. Identified gaps in current markets and potentials for a commercialisation are introduced and discussed. The focus of this document lies on the exploitation activities that are carried on during the project and pave the road for subsequent activities after successful completion of the project. It will be updated by another version (D8.7) which will focus on exploitation activities after the project has ended.

D.8.6 Dissemination Report Year 2 (PDF, 10 037 kB)

During Year 2, a number of academic articles have been published and we have participated in conferences as well as organised targeted workshops for practitioners in the field of managing 3D models. In addition to publishing articles to attract academic attention, the software artefacts that are produced in the project are attracting attention among our primary stakeholders and can be used as a base for our discussions around the stakeholders✬ needs. We have put effort into finding quantifiable metrics for measuring impact. What we now have in place is a scheme to connect metrics on traffic to our web site with the calendar of events as set forth in our impact assessment strategy.

D.8.7 Market Study and Exploitation Plan V2 (PDF, 9,73 MB)

The DURAARK project has produced a large number of research outputs- in a range form software artefacts to knowledge, best practices and datasets. This outcome represents together a significant contribution to the ongoing efforts for securing long-term access to building data across a wide range of communities and disciplines. These are inherently linked and represented by the many disciplines, that are part of DURAARK.

D.8.8 Dissemination report Year 3 (PDF, 42,9 MB)

The year 3 of the DURAARK project has seen an increase in all dissemination areas. This is not at last due to the fact, that the consortium has after three years of research created way more tangible research outcomes. This allowed the consortium to target besides the scientific especially stakeholder communities, where the number of associated organisations and companies could be increased by 223% in this year. During Year 3 20 scientific publications ranging from book chapters to posters were undertaken and consortium members have participated in workshops and conferences across all fields represented in the DURAARK consortium.
